11th ANNUAL SILENT ART SCHOLARSHIP AUCTION...

...was held December 10th in conjunction with the high school Christmas choir concert in the south gym. hallway.   A scholarship will be given to a deserving graduating senior pursuing a career in the Visual Arts at the senior awards program in May.

Anna Carlsen, class of 2009 was awarded the prestigious VISUAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP at Commencement ceremonies Sunday, June 7, 2009. Past winners are:  2008-RT Vrieze, 2007-Dana Roen, 2006-Breanna Auringer, 2005-Emily Stromwall; Kirsten Carlsen received the Herbert H. Fredrickson Memorial Scholarship; 2004-Chris Pagel, 2003-Jessica Renee Larsen, 2002-Brandon Madery, and 2001-Brandon Threinen.

Art Education Minnesota's Student Art Show February 26-March 11, 2009 at the Minnesota State Capitol in the North Corridor. The show is open to the public during building hours. CONGRATULATIONS Ali Biwer and McKenzie Kohlnhofer who representedKasson-Mantorville High Schools. There was an open house and reception for artists, families, teachers and the general public Sunday, February 24, 2009 at 1:00-3:00 pm in the Capitol Rotunda to meet the honorary chairperson and tour the capitol building. The program was held at 2:00 pm to award certificates. There were refreshments in the Great Hall. The display was moved into the North Corridor for the duration of the exhibit February 24-March1.

Zumbro Education District Traveling Art Show consists of art teachers in the seven member schools. Each teacher selects five works of art to travel from school to school for a one week display. There will be a reception for the public to recognize K-M students involved in the ZED Traveling Art Show March 15 starting at 6:00 pm in the Middle School Media Center. Individual art specialist will be handing out certificates to their students participating in the show. The following students will represent classes taught by Marilyn Fredrickson:  Sarah Broin, Allysa Evans, Khendra Johnson, Sara Anderson, Rebecca Peters. Also exhibiting will be the students in Art 2-2 and Independent Studies. 

 

The 2010 ZED Traveling Art Show Schedule is as follows: Byron- February 17-23 in high school media center; Pine Island- February 24-March 2, H.S. Library on 2nd floor;Stewartville March 3-9, in HS/MS Library Entryways; Kasson-Mantorville March 10-16 in Middle School Media Center[Open House will be March 15, 5:30-7:15 pm]; Triton-March 17-March 23 in main entrance of high school; Blooming Prairie- March 24-March 30 in HS Library;  Hayfield- March 31-April 13 in H.S. Library.

 

 

The following students represented Kasson-Mantorville KoMets at the 2010 Section IA Minnesota State High School Visual Arts Competition May 1 at the Rochester Civic Center in Rochester. Students will be selected in April.

Category 1-Drawing: To be announced,SUPERIOR  RATING on  Category 1-Drawing:  SUPERIOR RATING on ; and received SUPERIOR RATING on computer Multi Media creation  representing 'Innovation, Inspiration, and Imagination'.
