Cultural Experiences:
My journey of learning Spanish started in High School with Intro to Spanish in 7th grade & many Mexican friends who helped practice Spanish!

2001 - Toured Spain with my high school Spanish club - From Madrid, Barcelona, Torremolinos, Mijas, Sevilla, Granada to Gibraltar. We also visited other cities along the way, it truly was an amazing experience!  We also had a family stay for a week in Toledo, Spain which gave me the idea to continue studying Spanish since I had to interpret for most of the students on the trip.

Studied abroad - Granada, Spain
Summer 2005

My husband is from Monterrey, Mexico and his immediate relatives still live there, while most of his extended family reside in this area of Minnesota.  We typically take trips to Monterrey to visit his family at least once a year & when possible twice!

While in college at Winona State University I began teaching Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Cumbia dance lessons to students who had an interest. I truly enjoy all latin music!

Fall 2011 & Fall 2012 - I presented at the MCTLC (Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages & Cultures) Annual Conference sharing my ideas with other teachers.

Summer 2012 - I went to Puerto Rico for the AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish & Portuguese) Annual Conference & enjoyed learning about the culture and history of Puerto Rico!

Summer 2013 - I went to San Antonio, Texas for the AATSP Annual Conference and enjoyed learning about San Antonio's rich Spanish-speaking heritage!

Summer 2015 - I went to Denver, Colorado for the AATSP Annual Conference and enjoyed learning about San Antonio's rich Spanish-speaking heritage!

Summer 2016 - I went to Miami, Florida for the AATSP Annual Conference and enjoyed learning about San Antonio's rich Spanish-speaking heritage!
